Board of Directors

Stephen J. Kovacic

Stephen J. Kovacic, Chairman of the Board |

Stephen was called to the Bar of Ontario and Massachusetts in 2006 following a 15+ year career in engineering and research. He is currently Registered Counsel in California.
Stephen has held a variety of engineering, management, and board positions in the semiconductor industry, including consultancy and venture capital. He was previously a board member serving the C2Mi and currently serves on the board of other start-up companies.
In addition to serving as Chair of the Board for 6Harmonics, Stephen is Director at Skyworks Solutions Inc that innovates analog semiconductors for aerospace, automotive, broadband, cellular infrastructure, connected home, industrial, medical, military, smartphone, tablet and wearable markets.


Robert Barlow

Rob is a successful growth executive, skilled at helping mid-size SaaS, AI, IoT, telecom and data platform organizations to scale. His 25-year technology career began with Clearnet Communications Inc in 1997 and was followed by serving as Director of New Technology Introduction and R&D at TELUS until 2006.
In 2007, as Founder, President and CEO of the award-winning WireIE Group, Rob became a sought-after thought leader on delivering broadband to the unconnected. WireIE delivered broadband to resource extraction, government, and Tier 1 carriers globally to provide connectivity to rural and remote markets throughout the Americas.
After a successful exit from WireIE in 2019, Rob consulted in venture capital while supporting existing management teams with corporate board representation, sales leadership and execution, corporate fundraising, marketing, product alignment and IT operations. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of IVI.TSX.V and MANS.CSE.
As the CEO of 6 Harmonics, Rob uses his expertise and passion for connecting the unconnected to leverage a robust product delivering TVWS to rural and remote markets globally.


Robert Simmonds

Robert Simmonds, Director |

Robert C. Simmonds is internationally regarded as a leading wireless communications engineer and mobile spectrum authority and has played a key role in the development of Canada’s mobile spectrum policies for more than 30 years.
Robert has been a director of BCE and Bell Canada since May 2011. He is currently Chair of Lenbrook Corporation, a national distributor of electronics components and radio products, which he founded in 1977. He is also Chair of the Mobile and Personal Communications Committee of the Radio Advisory Board of Canada, a body that provides unbiased and technically expert advice to the federal Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
From 1985 until 2000, Robert served as Chairman of Clearnet Communications Inc., a Canadian wireless competitor that launched two revolutionary digital mobile networks. He is also a past Chair of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA).
A laureate and member of Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame and recipient of the Engineering Medal for Entrepreneurship from Professional Engineers Ontario, Robert earned his B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Toronto. In recognition of his contribution to the industry, he became a Fellow of the Wireless World Research Forum, an organization dedicated to long-term research in the wireless industry, in October 2013. In 2019, Robert was inducted into the Engineering Alumni Hall of Distinction of the University of Toronto.


Ron Vered

Ron Vered, P.Eng., Director |

Ron Vered is a Co-Owner and Executive Chairman of Arnon Corporation and of Ron Eastern Construction Ltd. Arnon Corporation and its affiliates own and manage real estate. RECL is a General Contractor and Construction Manager.
Via R. V. Holdings Corp., his personal holding company, Ron has been instrumental in the creation and the ongoing development of several early stage companies.
Ron has served on several volunteer boards including Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Community Foundations.


Lawrence Weinstein

Lawrence was called to the bar in 1983 and co-founded LaBarge Weinstein LLP in 1997 after serving as Partner at Soloway Wright LLP and working at Blakes.
Lawrence has sat on boards and acted as secretary at many technology start-ups, facilitating successful exits via acquisitions by public North American technology companies. Since 2011, Lawrence has consulted in residential and commercial real estate development at Urbandale Corporation in Ottawa, where he owns 50% of the business.

Patrick DiPietro, Advisor

Patrick DiPietro, Advisor |

Patrick DiPietro brings 40 years of telecom technology and investment management experience and sits on several technology company boards.
Before retiring to focus on governance, Patrick was Senior Vice President of the Integration Management Office at Infinera, a role he held since October 2018 following Infinera’s acquisition of Coriant. Coriant was a telecom technology company where Patrick served as Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board.
From 2012-2018, Patrick served as Group President Telecom at Los Angeles firm Marlin Equity Partners, where he served on technology company boards, helping them create value for customers and investors prior to exits.
From 2001 to 2011, Patrick served as Managing Partner at VG Partners, where he oversaw the company’s Technology Fund. As a venture capitalist, he managed a portfolio of more than 20 start-up companies and sat on numerous boards, including Sandvine, SiGe Semiconductor, Continuous Computing, BTI Systems, Neterion and BelAir Networks.
Prior to VG Partners, Patrick was Vice President at Nortel, where he launched several highly successful networking products. Patrick has also held senior management roles at leading technology companies, such as Bell Northern Research.
Patrick earned a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University and has completed master’s courses in Telecommunications Management from Carleton University.
